Musing Mondays (#4)

Musing Mondays is a blog hop hosted by Should be Reading. They post a question for people to discuss & "muse" over. If you have a book blog, you can definitely participate! If not, you can still post your answers below in the comments!

This week's musing asks...

What are you currently reading? Is it any good? Would you recommend it?

I literally just finished the City of Glass, the third book of the Mortal Instrument Series, just minutes ago. It was really good. I'll have my review up either later today or tomorrow. It's definitely the best of the series so far. I definitely recommend this series. I'm really looking forward to reading book 4: City of Fallen Angels.

PLEASE DO NOT POST ANY SPOILERS OF THE SEQUELS IN THE COMMENTS! THANKS!

This week's musing asks...

When you’re stuck for a book to read next, what do you do?

Fortunately, I have never not had a book that I wanted to read. I always have books on my "To Read" List. Currently, my Goodreads account has 100 books on that list. I probably won't read all of them, but it's nice always having that list to go to. If I am ever in a situation though, where I don't know which of those to read, I normally go to my library's website and see which books that I'm most interested in are available. I will get whichever ones they have. However, normally, I just request books. When deciding which to request, I see which books on my list seem the most interesting or ones that I've been wanting to read for awhile, but haven't had the chance yet. Or, of course, sometimes I will get the next book in a series.

What do you do when you can't find a book to read?

This week's musing asks...

Do you set goals for yourself, while reading? For example, “I want to get this book finished this weekend," or "I will read __ pages today," etc. Why, or why not?

Yes and no. Sometimes while in the middle of a book, I'll be like "I would like to finish this by the end of the week." But if I don't finish it, I don't panic or anything. Reading is something I do for fun, not something I want to rush through. Sometimes though, I do feel as though I want to finish a book because I want to start another book that I think will be better than the book I'm currently reading.

I also don't usually set a page goal either. Again, like I said, I read for fun. If I don't want to read that day, then I don't (doesn't happen often). However, I do update my page status on Goodreads on a nightly basis, and I'll notice if I have read a lot that day or not. I'll admit that sometimes I do end up a little upset if I hadn't read that much, but I don't dwell on it. It's not something to worry about.

What about you? Do you set goals while you're reading? Feel free to post your answers below in the comments!

This week's musing asks...

Do you have a reading goal, such as __ books? Why or why not?

Yes, this year, in January I set up my reading goal on Goodreads to be 35 books. I thought that was a pretty reasonable number for the entire year. Last year, I read 18 books. But if you include the fact that I re-read The Hunger Games trilogy, I read 21 books. That was only the second half of 2011 too. I didn't start obsessively reading till June. This year, my goal of 35 books on Goodreads doesn't count books I re-read (I wish it did), but for me in reality, my goal does include books that I re-read. So far, this year I have read 11 (including Divergent which I re-read in January).  I definitely think I can achieve my goal of reading 35 books. I plan on reading a lot this summer & of course, I'll read a lot during my winter break in December as well.

Do you have a reading goal this year? Speak out below in the comments!
