My Favorite Insurgent Quotes

I love doing "my favorite quotes" blog posts for books that I truly enjoyed & had humorous quotes in them! It's been awhile since I've done one. I will probably do them whenever I re-read a book. When I plan on doing these I typically keep a paper and pen with me at all times when I'm reading. That can be a hassle when I'm reading a book for a first time, but when I'm re-reading a book, I don't mind it so much.

Please Note: These "quotes" are just that, "quotes"--things characters said. These quotes don't include narration. If they did, this blog post would be HUGE. Second of all, these quotes are in no order at all. It would take me forever to figure out which ones I like more than others. If anything, they are in the order they were written. Example: A quote may come from page 90 and the next one will be from page 96. Thirdly, if it's difficult to tell who is speaking to whom, I put the people's names in parentheses. If there are no parentheses, you can tell who says what at the end of each quote. If more than one person is talking the first person who spoke is the first listed. Finally, all quotes come from the U.S. hardback version.

Warning: These quotes contain spoilers in them!

Here are my favorite quotes from Insurgent!!

"How old are you, anyway?"
"Eighteen."
"And you don't think you're told old to be with my little sister?"
"She isn't your little anything."--Caleb & Tobias, p. 17

"We're all right, you know. You and me. Okay? Nothing else is all right. But we are." --Tobias to Tris, p. 48

"Sleep. I'll fight the bad dreams off if they come to get you."
"With what?"
"My bare hands obviously."--Tobias & Tris, p. 50

"Where's your scary boyfriend?"
"He's not scary."
"Sure he's not."
"I don't know where he is."--Lynn & Tris, p. 164

"You're too important to just...die."
"I'm not important. Everyone will do just fine without me."
"Who cares about everyone? What about me?"
"You would be fine. Not at first. But you would move on, and do what you have to do."
"That's a lie."--Tobias & Tris, pp. 311 & 312

"You die, I die too."--Tobias to Tris, p. 338

"Why did he come here?"
"Because he's an idiot."
"Well, yeah." --Peter & Tris talking about why Tobias showed up in Erudite after Tris did, p. 338

"That's ridiculous. That doesn't make any sense. He's eighteen; he'll find another girlfriend once you're dead. And he's stupid if he doesn't know that."--Peter after Tris said that she thinks Tobias came to die with her, p. 339 (I thought this line was pretty funny. Peter's so funny.)

"Unless you want me to throw up all over you guys, you might want to save it for later." --Peter when Tris and Tobias start kissing after he & Tobias saved her, p. 388

"Got your gun?"
"No, I figured I would shoot the bullets out of my nostrils, so I left it upstairs."
"Oh, shut up."--Peter & Tobias, p. 390

"I don't...My family is all dead, or traitors; how can I..."
"I'll be your family now."
"I love you."
"Say it again."
"Tobias, I love you."
"I love you, too."--Tris & Tobias, p. 400

"Let me get this straight. So you left the Dauntless compound to get ready for war...and took your makeup bag with you?"
"Yep. Figured it would be harder for anyone to shoot me if they saw how devastatingly attractive I was."-- Tris & Christina, pp.426 & 427

My Favorite Clockwork Prince Quotes

I love doing "my favorite quotes" blog posts for books that I truly enjoyed & had humorous quotes in them! .

Finally, all quotes come from the U.S. hardback version.

Warning: These quotes contain spoilers in them!

Now, here are my favorite quotes from Clockwork Prince, book two of The Infernal Devices:

"Is this a game? We just blurt out whatever word comes next to mind? In that case mine's 'genuphobia.' It means an unreasonable fear of knees." --Will to Jem, p. 33

"What's the word for a perfectly reasonable fear of annoying idiots?" --Jessamine to Will, p. 33

"Trains are great dirty smoky things. You won't like it."
"I won't know if I like it until I try it, will I?"
"I've never swum naked in the Thames, but I know I wouldn't like it."
"But think how entertaining for sightseers." --Will and Tessa, p. 75

"Beautiful. You are beautiful, James Carstairs."--Tessa to Jem, p. 204

"Eggs. I do love eggs. I could eat them all day."--Henry speaking completely off topic to nobody in particular, p.210

"James, you are all the family I have. I would die for you. You know that. I would die without you. If it were not for you, I would be dead a hundred times over these past five years. I owe you everything, and if you cannot believe I have empathy, perhaps you might at least believe I know honor--honor, and debt--"--Will to Jem, p. 248

"I have wanted to do this every moment of every hour of every day that I have been with you since the day I met you. But you know that. You must know. Don't you?" --Will to Tessa regarding kissing her on the balcony at the ball, p. 290

"I would forgive Tessa anything."--Jem to Jessamine, p. 350

"Lies and secrets, Tessa, they are like a cancer in the soul. They eat away what is good and leave only destruction behind."--Aunt Harriet to Tessa in Tessa's dream, p. 395

"I love you. And I don't want to lose you."--Jem to Tessa, p. 398

"When two souls are as one, they stay together on the Wheel. I was born into this world to love you, and I will love you in the next life, and the one after that." --Jem to Tessa, p. 493

"There is only one girl I care to make swoon. The question is, does she?"
"She does."--Jem and Tessa, p. 344

"Your place is with me. It always will be." --Jem to Tessa, p. 428

"Sacrifice? Tessa, I love you. I want to marry you."--Jem to Tessa, p. 429

"I cannot explain love. I could not tell you if I loved you the first moment I saw you, or if it was the second or third or fourth. But I remember the first moment I looked at you walking toward me and realized that somehow the rest of the world seemed to vanish when I was with you. That you were the center of everything I did and felt and thought."--Jem to Tessa, pp. 429-430

"You speak of sacrifice, but it is not my sacrifice I offer. It is yours I ask of you. I can offer you my life, but it is a short life; I can offer you my heart, though I have no idea how many more beats it shall sustain. But I love you enough to hope that you will not care that I am being selfish in trying to make the rest of my life--whatever its length--happy, by spending it with you. I want to be married to you, Tessa. I want it more than I have ever wanted anything else in my life. That is, if you love me, too." --Jem to Tessa, p. 430

"You are home for me now." --Jem to Tessa, p. 432

Favorite Clockwork Angel Quotes

I love doing "my favorite quotes" blog posts for books that I truly enjoyed & had humorous quotes in them! .

Now, here are my favorite quotes from Clockwork Angel, book one of The Infernal Devices:

"When you find a man you wish to marry, Tessa, remember this: You will know what kind of man he is not by the things he says, but by the things he does." --Aunt Harriet to Tessa, p. 33

"Oh, no. I hate chocolate."
"What kind of monster could possibly hate chocolate?"--Tessa & Will, p. 83

"One must always be careful of books, and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us."--Tessa to Will, p. 87

"Whatever you are physically, male or female, strong or weak, ill or healthy--all those things matter less than what your heart contains. If you have the soul of a warrior, you are a warrior. Whatever the color, the shape, the design of the shade that conceals it, the flame inside the lamp remains the same. You are that flame. That's what I believe." --Jem to Tessa, p. 283

"Must you go? I was rather hoping you'd stay and be a ministering angel, but if you must go, you must." (Jem to Tessa)
"I'll stay. I can minister angelically." (Will to Jem)
"None too convincingly. And you're not as pretty to look at as Tessa is." (Jem to Will)
"How rude. Many who have gazed upon me have compared the experience to gazing at the radiance of the sun." (Will to Jem)
"If they mean it gives you a headache, they aren't wrong." (Jem to Will) --p. 343

"It is as great a thing to love as it is to be loved. Love is not something that can be wasted." --Jem to Tessa, p. 470

Favorite City of Fallen Angels Quotes

I love doing "my favorite quotes" blog posts for books that I truly enjoyed & had humorous quotes in them! It's funny because I actually kept a pen & paper with me at all times when reading this to write all the page numbers down just so I could have all the quotes I wanted without forgetting where they were for this post.

Warning: These quotes contain spoilers in them, so beware!

Please Note: These "quotes" are just that, "quotes"--things characters said. These quotes don't include narration. If they did, this blog post would be HUGE. Second of all, these quotes are in no order at all. It would take me forever to figure out which ones I like more than others. Thirdly, if it's difficult to tell who is speaking to whom, I put the people's names in parentheses. Finally, all quotes come from the U.S. hardback version.

Now, here are my favorite quotes from City of Fallen Angels, book 4 of The Mortal Instruments:

"I suppose you've always been amazing at this stuff."
"I was born amazing." --Clary & Jace referring to Jace's ability to do flips, p. 38

"No. That's Clary; she's my best friend. And she has a boyfriend. Like, really, really, really has a boyfriend. The nuclear bomb of boyfriends. Trust me on this one."--Simon to Jordan after Jordan asked if Clary was Simon's girlfriend, pp.94-95

"What were you dreaming about?"
"You. I always dream about you."
"Oh, yeah? Because I thought you were having a nightmare."
"Sometimes I dream you're gone. I keep wondering when you'll figure out how much better you could do and leave me."
"I wish I could say things the way you do. Everything you say, the words you choose, they're so perfect. You always find the right quote, or the right thing to say to make me believe you love me. If I can't convince you that I'll never leave you--"
"Just say it again."
"I'll never leave you."
"No matter what happens, what I do?"
"I'd never give up on you. Never. What I feel about you--It's the most important thing I've ever felt." --Clary & Jace, p. 75

"It means that love is the most powerful force in the world. That love can do anything." --Jace explaining an Italian quote that he said, p. 76

"Aren't they supposed to be hiring someone else to train me full-time anyway?"
"Yes, and I'm worried that if you get into the habit of making out with your instructors, you'll wind up making out with him, too."
"Don't be sexist. They could find me a female instructor."
'In that case you have my permission to make out with her, as long as I can watch."
"Nice. You're just worried they'll hire a male instructor and he'll be hotter than you."
"Hotter than me?"
"It could happen. You know, theoretically."--Clary & Jace, p. 77

"I can keep a perfectly good eye on Simon, thank you. He's my neophyte Downworlder to mock and boss around, not yours."--Jace to Jordan, p. 144

"I didn't even think you liked me all that much. Is this one of those keep-your-friends-close-and-your-enemies-closer things?"
"I thought it was keep your friends close so you have someone to drive the car when you sneak over to your enemy's house at night and throw up in his mailbox."
"I'm pretty sure that's not it." --Simon & Jace, p. 145

"What, bored with my company already?"
"Let me ask you something. Do you find me fascinating to be around?"
"What was that? Sorry, I think I fell asleep for a moment. Do, continue with whatever mesmerizing thing you were saying."--Jace & Simon, pp.160 & 161

"Break up with her? Are you insane?" --Jace to Simon, p. 161

"Everything that happens to you matters to me."--Jace to Clary, p. 242

"Clary. You were right. This isn't coming from inside me. Something is doing this to me. To us. You know what that means? If I can be...cured...then I don't have to be afraid of myself when I'm around you anymore. I'd spend a thousand nights in the Silent City for that."--Jace to Clary, p. 272

"You can't forget the things you did in the past, or you'll never learn from them."--Jordan, p. 296

"I could have asked for anything, and I asked for you. And I would do it again. I love you, Jace Wayland--Herondale--Lightwood--whatever you want to call yourself. I don't care. I love you and I will always love you, and pretending it could be any other way is just a waste of time."--Clary to Jace, p. 407

"Remember when I told you that I didn't know if there was a God or not, but either way, we were completely on our own? I still don't know the answer; I only knew that there was such a thing as faith, and that I didn't deserve to have it. And then there was you. You changed everything I believed in." --Jace to Clary, p. 407

"I don't want to let you out of my sight"--Jace to Clary, p. 409

Favorite City of Glass Quotes

In my review of the City of Ashes, I included a section with my favorite quotes from it. I also posted a blog post not too long ago with my favorite quotes from City of Bones. It was a lot of fun to do, and I have decided to do another one for City of Glass

Warning: These quotes contain spoilers in them, so beware!

Please Note: There are many other quotes from this book that I love, there is no possible way I could include every single one of them. Secondly, these "quotes" are just that, "quotes"--things characters said. These quotes don't include narration. If they did, this blog post would be HUGE. Thirdly, these quotes are in no order at all. Fourthly, if it's difficult to tell who is speaking to whom, I put the people's names in parentheses. Finally, all quotes come from the U.S. hardback version.

Now, here are my favorite quotes from City of Glass, book 3 of The Mortal Instruments:

"I had to try. And I did. But God knows, I don't want anyone but you. I don't even want to want anyone but you." --Jace, p. 209

"Good things come to those who wait."
"I always thought that was 'Good things come to those who do the wave.' No wonder I've been so confused all my life."
"'Confused' is a nice word for it."--Maia, Simon, Jace, pp. 539-540

"You look happy." (Simon to Clary) "And a good thing for you that she does." (Simon to Jace)
"Is this the part where you tell me that if I hurt her, you'll kill me?" (Jace to Simon)
"No. If you hurt Clary, she's quite capable of killing you herself. Possibly with a variety of weapons." (Simon to Jace)
"Look, I just wanted to say that it's okay if you dislike me. If you make Clary happy, I'm fine with you." (Simon to Jace)
"I don't dislike you." (Jace to Simon) --pp. 534-535

"And I'm supposed to sit by while you date boys, fall in love with someone else, get married...? And meanwhile, I'll die a little bit more every day, watching." --Jace to Clary, p. 331

"There is no pretending. I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there's a life after that, I'll love you then." --Jace to Clary, p. 331

"Clary, open your eyes." --Jace, p.497

"Because you asked him to. You could have had anything else in the world, and you asked for me."
"But I don't want anything else in the world." --Jace & Clary, p. 498

"You're not my brother. You know that, right?"
"Yes, I know that." --Clary & Jace, p. 499

"You don't look like you."
"It's the dress. I don't usually wear things this...pretty."
"You always look beautiful." --Jace & Clary, p. 526

"I know, I'm just saying that I think I chose the way I did in part because of you. Since I've met you, everything I've done has been in part because of you. I can't untie myself from you, Clary--not my heart or my blood or my mind or any other part of me. And I don't want to." --Jace to Clary, explaining why he chose not to side with Valentine, p. 531

"I am a man, and men do not consume pink beverages. Get thee gone, woman, and bring me something brown."
"Brown?"
"Brown is a manly color." --Jace & Isabelle, p. 534

"And now I'm looking at you, and you're asking me if I still want you, as if I could stop loving you. As if I would want to give up the thing that makes me stronger  than anything else ever has. I never dared give much of myself to anyone before--bits of myself to the Lightwoods, to Isabelle and Alec, but it took years to do it--but, Clary, since the first time I saw you, I have belonged to you completely. I still do. If you want me." --Jace, p. 532

"Unfortunately, Lady of the Haven, my one true love remains myself."
"At least, you don't have to worry about rejection, Jace Wayland."
"Not necessarily, I turn myself down occasionally, just to keep it interesting."
--Dorothea & Jace, p. 345

"Is this when you start tearing strips off your t-shirt to bind up my wound?"
"If you wanted me to rip my clothes off you should have just asked. It would have been a lot less painful...next time you're planning to injure yourself to get my attention, just remember that a little sweet talk works wonders."
"I'll keep that in mind." --Clary & Jace, p. 187

"Don't tell me. You've got a drawing emergency. You need a nude model. Well, I'm not in the mood." --Jace, p. 324
