Warning! This synopsis is filled with spoilers from the first two books & this review is filled with major spoilers from this book!
"To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters - never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.
As Clary uncovers more about her family's past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadowhunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadowhunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he's willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City - whatever the cost?
Love is a mortal sin and the secrets of the past prove deadly as Clary and Jace face down Valentine."

What motivated you to read this book?: I have really grown to love these characters & I was dying to find out what happened next!
Book Version: Hardback
Where did you get the book?: Library
Orginal?: Yes
Preditable: Mainly No. The parts I thought would happen were only because I knew what the cover of the last book looks like. (So I figured that Jace & Clary weren't really siblings, BUT I still had doubts because it wasn't revealed that they weren't siblings till chapter 17. I also thought Clary would ask Angel Raziel to save Jace because it's obvious that he is still alive on the cover of book 5.)
Thoughts on Cover: Not my favorite cover of the three, I discovered that that is Sebastian on the cover & I never liked Sebastian. I never trusted him. That should be Alec or Isabelle on the cover.
Recommended to: Harry Potter, Percy Jackson fans, & Fantasy/Urban Fantasy Fans

Review: This book is by far the best of the series so far. I absolutely loved it. The story was really intense and packed with lots of action which I enjoyed. It got really extreme and my stomach started hurting from nerves! My love for Jace and the other characters grew. I loved how Jace seemed more considerate and caring than in the first two books. I especially liked how Simon and him became more accepting of one another and even saved each other's lives a few times in both this book and in City of Ashes. I never would have expected that at all. I was also very, very pleased when it was finally announced in this book that Jace and Clary are not siblings, and that they can be together as a couple. I had been rooting for the two of them to get together since the beginning of City of Bones! Words cannot describe how happy I was. The scenes with Jace and Clary before that were very emotional. I literally felt the emotions that they were feeling. They were written so well. I loved them. My favorite scene with the two of them (before the epilogue) is either the grass scene or the scene in Clary's bedroom when Jace spills his heart out to Clary. The climax with Valentine, Jace, and Clary was really well done too. I literally started crying when Jace said "Clary, open your eyes." That scene was very moving, I loved it! The epilogue was brilliant too. The best epilogue of the series so far. The other epilogues were so depressing, and this one made me very giddy and eager for more. I'm definitely excited for book four: City of Fallen Angels.
Favorite Quotes: Will definitely write another post with my favorite quotes! There are just so many!
Favorite Character: Jace then Clary then Isabelle then Alec. In all honesty, I liked all the protagonists. Jace was definitely my favorite though.
Least Favorite Character: Sebastian/Jonathan Thoughts on Cover: Not my favorite cover of the three, I discovered that that is Sebastian on the cover & I never liked Sebastian. I never trusted him. That should be Alec or Isabelle on the cover.
