This really is a tough choice. If I had to decide between the three photos, I'd pick Alex for sure. However, I'm basing my answer off of all the photos and videos that I have seen them in. Therefore, I pick:

Day 16 of the 30 Day Hunger Games Challenge: Rue or Prim?

Day 16 of the 30 Day Hunger Games Challenge: Rue or Prim?
Major Spoilers in this! Don't read if you haven't read Mockingjay

Rue VS Prim
Wow, really? Rue VS Prim? Two innocent little girls? Poor things :( Neither one deserved the pain they went through or a tragic death at such young ages. This makes me hate the capitol even more.
Source
Don't Willow Shields & Amandla Stenberg who play Prim & Rue look so cute?! I think they look adorable!
Okay, I choose:
Source
Prim

I adore Prim. A lot of the scenes with her made me cry when watching the movie. Poor little duck. (You'll understand that reference if you've seen the movie or read the book.) Just look at the photo below.

Source
See what I mean? So sad. On a side note, when you think about it, you realize that Prim is the reason for the rebellion. I mean if it weren't for Prim, Katniss never would have been a Tribute in the Hunger Games and she never would have taken out the berries at the end of the 74th annual Hunger Games. A lot of things wouldn't have happened if it weren't for Prim. It's very interesting to think about. Another thing I thought of is that I think Prim and Rue could have been good friends since they were the same age!

Liked the Hunger Games? Read Divergent and Insurgent

Insurgent comes out on Tuesday and I'm super excited! Have YOU pre-ordered your copy yet? It's only $10.79 on Amazon

(Spoilers from Divergent are in the summary.)

Source
Summary on Goodreads:
"One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so."

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, Insurgent is the sequel to Divergent which is definitely a must read! It was tied in first place with the Hunger Games last December for the best book that I had read in 2011. That's saying a lot since I love the Hunger Games soooo much!! I truly believe that Divergent will be as big as the Hunger Games when the movie comes out. So, yeah, if you haven't read Divergent yet, read it. You won't regret it.

News Update: April 23, 2012

Hello Guys!

I'd like to start out by saying thanks for checking out my book blog. Whether this is your first time at my blog or your 50th time, thank you. I now have 300+ page views and for being a small (unpopular) book blogger, I think that is a good amount of page views for only being online for almost 2 months now. Again, thanks!

Next, I apologize for my lack of non-Hunger Games updates. Trust me, they are coming. I just haven't been reading as often anymore because of school, but next week I will be because Insurgent comes out May 1st! I still remember pre-ordering it on Amazon a few days after Christmas thinking that May 1st seemed so far away and now it's only 7 days away! Speaking of Insurgent, I just read the chapter from Divergent told from Four's perspective. I loved it!! I definitely understand some things that I hadn't before.

Thirdly, I'm super excited about reading again this summer! There are so many books on my to-read list and so many that I want to re-read. I honestly don't know how I will have time to read all of them! I was going to list them all out here on my blog but that would take way too long, but I will be posting reviews of some of them after I read them.

Again, if you are reading this blog post, thanks! I really do appreciate all my blog readers! Please spread the word and tell your friends and family about it!!

Peace out,
Emily

Day 14 of the Hunger Games 30 Day Challenge: Blond or Brown Haired Liam Hemsworth?

It's day 14 of The Hunger Games 30 Day Challenge!!
Blond or Brown Haired Liam Hemsworth?

I like both but I'm going to have to go with:
Source
Brown!

(Very minor Catching Fire spoiler in the second paragraph)

While we are on the topic of Liam, let's talk about his character Gale. First off, I'm going to make it very clear that I don't hate Gale. I like Gale. I have nothing against him. I liked Liam's portrayal of him. He is a good actor and I know he will play Gale well in the next one. When I saw the movie yesterday for the second time, I realized that I admire him for voicing his opinions on the capitol. I definitely felt sorry for him (not that sorry, I am Team Peeta after all) especially when he was sitting in the field during the countdown to the start of the Hunger Games. I mean, Katniss is his best friend and she's was literally about to fight for her life. I also like the part with Katniss and Gale at the beginning of the film.

By the way, it terms of his hair color, I love how the hair people were able to get his hair color to be the exact same shade of brown as Jennifer's/Katniss's like how it is in the book. They are supposed to be "cousins" after all. haha

Seeing The Hunger Games a Second Time

(If you haven't seen the movie yet, don't read this.)

The original plan I had was to talk about the stuff I didn't like and did like about The Hunger Games movie after I saw it March 23rd. However, now after seeing the movie a second time I have become more accepting of the things that they cut. I also got a lot more out of it. I noticed a lot more things than I did the first time! Even with the things they did cut, I still enjoyed it immensely and it really did stay true to the book for the most part which I absolutely love. I'm still a little bummed though that the ending was changed and that Peeta never found out that Katniss was faking her love for him. I've spoken with some people who haven't read the books and they thought that Katniss really was in love with him! Well, in my opinion, I don't think she was in love with him, but that she was slowly falling for him. I mean it's completely obvious that she did care for him a lot in the first book. Hopefully, in Catching Fire, they will show Peeta being upset about Katniss pretending to be in love with him during the games. We shall see. I also would have liked them to have the part when Peeta nearly dies after him and Katniss are both named victors. Oh well.

The acting in this movie is phenomenal. Both Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson deserve Oscars  and several other awards! Not only was the acting incredible but so was the entire essence and feel of the film. Even though I had seen the movie already, I still cried a few times. It's so sad and so tear-jerking! You also feel very intense and into it during a lot of the scenes including the opening scene of the actual Hunger Games, the reaping, most of the scenes with Prim, and the feast scene.  Wow, truly this movie is incredible. I love it. It's the best movie of the decade so far and I'm not just saying that because I'm a HUGE Hunger Games fan. It really is that good. I highly recommend it to everyone!! I cannot wait to see Catching Fire and they haven't even hired a director for it yet!! It better be good! It has a lot to live up to!!

Sneak Peaks

What is it these days with sneak peeks? This past week, I discovered two excerpts/sneak peeks of books that I'm looking forward to reading. One is from Insurgent that's on Facebook and one from The Raven Boys that's on Entertainment Weekly's website. After reading both excerpts, I can definitely say that I cannot wait to read both books! These are just two books that come out this year that I'm looking forward to reading.

Sorry, for not continuing the 30 Day HG challenge. I've been busy. I'll probably keep posting these short blog posts for awhile, that is if I post any at all. Hope you guys understand.

Random Tidbits

Hey Guys!
As some of you already know, I am a huge Divergent fan! I truly think it's the next Hunger Games. It's epic. My favorite character in the book is Four, and well, if 35,000 people pre-order the sequel to Divergent, Insurgent, Harper Collins will release a chapter from Divergent that Veronica Roth (the author) wrote from Four's point of view! So please, please pre-order it! It's only $10.79 on Amazon! The book is worth $17.99, so you guys will be saving a lot of money this way!! :) And if you have a blog, be sure to add the "Free Four" widget that you see on the right.

Also, found out that another favorite book of mine, Delirium, is going to become a movie!! I'm so excited!!! Check out Lauren Oliver's blog for more information!!! Ah! I cannot wait to see who plays my favorite character Alex! :)

That's all the news for now!

Day 12 of the Hunger Games 30 Day Challenge: Blond or Brunette Jennifer Lawrence?

Hey Guys!
Day 12: Blond or Brunette Jennifer Lawrence?
Source
Brunette!
Honestly, I have gotten used to her having blond hair and I think she looks great with both colors. Not many people can pull off both colors and still look great!

Below, she has dirty blond hair and I love it!

Dirty blond hair looks better on her than platnium blond, but I'm pretty much used to it by now:

But I'd definitely pick her Katniss brown hair from the film if I had to decide!

Day 11 of the 30 Day Hunger Games Challenge: Funniest moment

Day 11: Funniest Moment

This is getting old, but again, there are spoilers in this post from Mockingjay

"'Finnick?' I say. 'Maybe some pants?'
He looks down at his legs as if noticing his outfit for the first time. Then he whips off his gown, leaving him in just his underwear. 'Why? Do you find this'---he strikes a ridiculously provocative pose---'distracting?'
I can't help laughing because it's funny, and it's extra funny because it makes Boggs look so uncomfortable, and I'm happy because Finnick actually sounds like the guy I met at the Quarter Quell."
-Mockingjay page 79

That part literally made me laugh out loud. It was awesome. It was probably the only time I actually laughed out loud while reading that book. It lightened the mood. I definitely hope that part is in the movie. Oh, I love Finnick.

Speaking of Finnick, there has been a lot of discussion online about who should play Finnick in Catching Fire. I have no preference just as long as he is attractive, looks older than both Jennifer and Josh, and has talent. I cannot wait to see who ends up getting the role. Who do you guys think should play Finnick?

Day 10 of the 30 Day Hunger Games Challenge! The Biggest Surprise

Wow guys, I'm truly surprised by the amount of pageviews I have gotten in the past 24 hours! You guys are amazing! Please spread the news and tell all your book loving friends about my blog. I promise my blog is not entirely Hunger Games related. I've just been in mega Hunger Games mode!

Anyways....
Day 10! The Biggest Surprise

Spoiler from the first book! But honestly, if you haven't read the books yet, you need to right now!!

"Claudius Templesmith's voice booms down from overhead, congratulating the six of us who remain. But he is not inviting us to a feast. He's saying something very confusing. There's been a rule change in the Games. A rule change! That in itself is mind bending since we don't really have any rules to speak of except don't step off your circle for sixty seconds and the unspoken rule about not eating one another. Under the new rule, both tributes from the same district will be declared winners if they are the last two alive. Claudius pauses, as if he knows we're not getting it, and repeats the change again.
The news sinks in. Two tributes can win this year. If they're from the same district. Both can live. Both of us can live.
Before I can stop myself, I call out Peeta's name."
-The Hunger Games, page 244

That was definitely the biggest surprise for me in the entire series. I definitely did not see that coming. I had a gut feeling that Katniss was going to end up having to kill Peeta in the end. But I'm so relieved and glad that feeling was wrong. You guys don't know how truly happy I was when the rule change was made. I was so glad knowing that Peeta might end up surviving after all and that Katniss probably wasn't going to kill him. The last third of the book was my favorite part. Wow, I really want to reread it, but I have no time to do so.
That's pretty much it for now.

Seeing Josh Hutcherson

You read that right. I saw Josh Hutcherson. With my own two eyes. No, I didn't meet him & no, I didn't get his autograph, but I'm thinking optimistically on this. Girls line up for days just for the chance to catch a glimpse of him at premieres and I happened to see him by chance and it was awesome!!

Okay, I'll start from the very beginning. It was about a week ago (I believe it was Thursday, March 29th) when I received a text from my sister (who is a HUGE Red's fan) after I got off from work. The text said that Josh Hutcherson would be throwing out the opening pitch at the Cincinnati Red's Opening Night Game. I remember thinking that I wanted to go but also thinking that there was no way I'd be able to go.

Later that night, I spoke with my mom about it and she said that she had considered buying tickets months ago, but then decided against it. I felt very disappointed upon hearing that. I asked her if we could still go and she said maybe. Then later she told me no. I was so upset. I really wanted to go. Then a few days later on Sunday, my sister asked about going to the game and my parents seriously considered it. The following day my mom told me that they bought the tickets, but  that we wouldn't have very good seats. I was so excited but discouraged  that I wouldn't get very good photos.

Throughout the week I told several of my friends and other people I knew that I was going to see Josh and how excited I was. They were all super excited for me especially since I'm such a major Hunger Games fan and Peeta fan.

Now comes the day of the game. My family & I were going to eat at Skyline in Cincinnati and I had heard in an interview that Josh likes to eat at Skyline. I was hoping to see him there, but of course, he wasn't there. As we were leaving though, my sister said something about wanting to go to the Red carpet to the Reds Meet and Greet to see some of the players. I answered saying that it would be awesome to get a glance and she said that Josh wouldn't be there. I wasn't even referring to Josh! I was referring to getting a glimpse of one of the players! Once we get there, we headed immediately to the Reds' red carpet. It was packed with hundreds of people. We went up the escalator to the next floor up to get a better view. We were able to see several of the players from one floor up. We saw Arroyo and Hannigan and a few other players. I was able to get a photo of some of them. Then thinking that I should save batteries, I turned my camera off. About a minute later, I heard a bunch of screaming and someone said "There's Josh!" I look over and there he was, walking down the red carpet, a huge grin spread across his face. He was waving to all of his fans. I started screaming and shouted out "I love you, Josh!" I quickly turned on my camera and took a photo but it turned out poorly :( Very blurry. Of all the photos that I took of course the one I took of Josh turned out horrible :( UGH!!! I still cannot believe that literally minutes after we got there, Josh made an appearance. Ah! I'm so happy, but totally bummed that I didn't get a good photo.Oh well, I will always have the memory of seeing him there unexpectedly. We definitely did not expect to see him since it didn't say that he would be on the red carpet.  I will try to fix the photo somehow through photoshop. We shall see.

After Josh left, I couldn't believe it. I kept saying "Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!" about 25 times! I almost cried of happiness. We were literally only 40 feet away from Josh Hutcherson, the guy who plays Peeta!! I still can't wrap my head around it.

Before the game, of course, Josh threw out the opening pitch. He didn't throw too well and ended up on the ground in embarrassment. I got a few photos before and after he threw out the pitch but none of them are that great. Here's the best one:

Josh Hutcherson right after throwing the Opening Pitch

I am glad we got to see him before the game closer up because I never would have been able to tell that that was him on the field! I kind of wish we stood closer to get a better view of the opening pitch, but there's nothing we can do now. I will have to think these things ahead next time. But anyways, I got to see Josh twice even if I didn't get to see him perfectly. It's more than most fans can say. :) I definitely want to see him again. Maybe at another Red's game or perhaps at a Hunger Games event. Who knows? If not, I'm glad I was able to see him at the game, even from a distance.

PS-Happy Easter, Everyone! Check out this awesome photo I found! haha :)

Day 9 of the Hunger Games 30 Day Challenge: Favorite Katniss Dress

Day 9: Favorite Katniss Dress (either from the books or movie)

There are some spoilers from the first book/movie in this post.

From the movie:
Source

Source

It's hard to decide which dress I prefer when it comes to picking a favorite dress from the movie since I've only seen the movie once so I can't remember all the dresses Katniss wore, but I would have to go with the red interview dress. It was really pretty. (I didn't like the bottom of it though.) It was a tad bit upsetting that the dresses in the film were not as good as the dresses in the book, but Katniss wears a lot of dresses in Catching Fire so maybe I'm speaking too soon. We will have to wait and see. Maybe if they do a good job with it I will make a post just for all the dresses Katniss wore! Who knows?

From the book I would say that my favorite dress was the simple yellow dress that Katniss wore after winning the games when she went onstage to meet Peeta. I guess I preferred the simplicity of it. I can't remember how it looked in the movie, but I remember she looked like an Ancient Greek goddess. See below photo. I wish the photo showed the entire dress so I could remember.

Prim! Her death was so heartbreaking! I mean, she's the reason why Katniss participated in the Hunger Games in the first place! Her death was so unnecessary and so sad! It affected Katniss and changed Katniss's life forever.
